On April 15-16 Troop 323, and Troop 3323 had their beginners backpacking trip for the scouts who just crossed at the last outing. Prior to the trip, the troops prepared the new by showing how backpacking was different from car camping, and how to pack a backpack. However, there is no better way to learn than just going out and experiencing it for yourself. The new scouts along with the troop hiked 1.5 miles to the camping spot, learned how to set up their tents, and cooked a yummy meal of tortellini. It was a hot weekend, but that didn’t discourage anyone, it was a successful outing and no new scouts were scared from the experience, so I call that a win.
